Off Topic: Sons of Anarchy

What is it that authors do when they’re not writing? For me? It’s usually reading, cleaning, trying to work out (LOL), and watching Netflix.

Yep, I’m boring.

A new show to me that I just started thanks to a recommendation from Lauren Dane (one of my fav authors) is Sons of Anarchy. I know, I know, I’m late to the game,  but I can’t help it.

So why am I talking about them? Because, these men are freaking scary alphas to the core. No, not the best kind of  alphas, but at least in the fundamentals. These guys work in a pack, are tough as hell, and do what the want, regardless of the consequences. Now, in my perfect world, I’d kill off most of the guys, leaving Jax, Opie, and Chibs just for me LOL. They’re an example of what happens when you go past that line of alpha hero and find yourself deep into that level of alpha villain and the nonredeemable hero. The ones with at least some good in their hearts are strong, somewhat caring, and ride motorcycles. Okay, ignore the law breaking and crazies with me for a second.

You there? Okay, breathe with me ladies. LOL Now what I like about this show is that it brings me back to when I was 19 and rode motorcycles with my roommate and her “gang.” Not a real gang, but a group of friends. I had a 2003 Harley FatBoy and the rest of them had similar bikes. Now my roommate was in her late 40s, as was the rest of the crew, so I always felt comfortable and safe with them LOL. SOA has NOTHING to do with what I did on my bike LOL. We when riding, ate amazing food, and rode all over the Rockies. I even when to the Sturgis bike rally. :-)

What I love reading about in books is how alpha a hero can be and then how soft he can be at the same time. Now, in SOA, the guys are nothing but hard and sometimes cruel. But I can a decent hero in some of them if I take out the scarier parts LOL.

So, tell me, what do you think of Jax? And what about alpha dogs? Can you think of a TV character that, if cleaned up a bit, would be a decent romance hero?

I love Jax! Charlie Hunnam is so HAWT. But you are so right, these guys are so alpha that they are scary. I really need to get back to watching this series.

    • Oh yes! Love him, and Chibs! They’re a little too mean LOL but they do take care of their women. They just need to learn the whole “independent, educated woman” thing! LOL

climbs back up onto chair – The picture didn’t knock me on off my chair – it was your line about being on a Harely Fatboy in a “gang” – the secrets we learn reading blogs.

I am watching the first three seasons on Netflix myself. I have two epi’s left before I am in stasis waiting for season 4 to be released and season 5 to start (which just so happens to be on my birthday. YAY ME). I also love Jax, Opie and Chibs, so we may have to fight over one or two of them.

Carrie Ann, I’d definitely say Jax is a hottie and I’ve never seen this show… hmm maybe that’ll have to change. That being said, I can’t believe you were a bit of a biker yourself, you’ve got to write a new series about bikers, lol!
